Image Descriptions
START ID. A collection of drawings of the same church, each with slightly more detail and/or phrase art than the last. Each variation of the church has a cross on the roof, a pear-shaped door, and four windows. Each variation features different phrase art:
- Church #1 has the word “Advent” written over it repeatedly. Other phrases around the church a re as follows: “Please help. Hate Being Alive. Leave [REDACTED] alone. Wish dead. Stop touching [REDACTED]. Tired. So tired. Leave her alone. Stop touching her. Kill [REDACTED] please. Hate being alive.”
- Church #2 has the word “afraid” written across it diagonally in large letters. The word “always” is written over and over again around it, producing the phrase “always afraid.”
- Church #3 has the word “afraid” written over and over again underneath it.
- Underneath Church #4, the word “afraid” is written repeatedly on every other line. The following phrases are written repeatedly in small cursive: “He’s watching,” “He’s always watching,” “Don’t be bad” and “Listen to Him.” I believe it is purposefully unclear whether the artist is talking about our owner or God.
The first three churches are scratched out in red and grey-black. The first and fourth churches feature frightening eyes, symbolizing feelings of being “watched by God.” The fourth church is the only one with colors other than red, as the windows have been drawn as stain glass. END ID.
